Hey y’all! I’m Denielle (DAYN-yul), lover of food, coffee, and boba. When I’m not cooking or baking or taking photos of what I make, I’m food-adventuring with my husband and providing Yelp reviews whenever possible. I have two cats (as of this writing) and hoping to expand my fur family to however large I can get away with.

Food is symbolic of love when words are inadequate.

Journey to Hungry Little Asian Girl
Originally from Manila, Philippines, I migrated to Los Angeles when I was 11. Went to the Bay Area for college and stayed for good because of the weather.
As a picky eater, I was always limited to things I wanted to eat. However, cooking opened up a world of possibilities for me. Even though there are still ingredients I would not eat by themselves, I am perfectly fine cooking with them because I appreciate what they contribute to an overall dish.
I never really thought I would like baking because it seemed too exact and I thought it didn’t provide enough creative liberties. Boy, was I wrong.
When I tried the Paleo diet to support my sister who was still living in L.A. (solidarity, yay!), I didn’t find Paleo desserts tasty. I made it my mission (for my own sanity and happiness) to make good-tasting Paleo desserts. This started my foray into baking in general, and I haven’t looked back since.
Photography has always been an interest of mine, but never got fully into it until I merged it with my love of cooking, baking, and food-adventuring. It took numerous gentle nudges from family and friends, but I finally released Hungry Little Asian Girl to the world!
